AI Translation allows you to create translated versions of your Powtoon in one or more languages. This feature automatically translates your Powtoon’s text and AI voice-overs and creates a new copy for each selected language.

What gets Translated?
When you use AI Translation, the following content is translated automatically:
- Text elements
- AI-generated voice-overs
Translating your Powtoon with AI
- In your Workspace, locate the Powtoon you want to translate. Click the More Options menu (three vertical dots) on the Powtoon thumbnail.
- Hover over Translate, then select Translate Powtoon AI.
- Select the languages you want to translate your Powtoon into. You can select multiple languages at this step. Each language translation costs 22 credits. A new copy of the Powtoon will be created.
- Choose if you want to download the translation file. The Translation file is an .xslx sheet, that includes that the translation info. You can use the translation file to review and edit the Powtoon later.
- Click Translate.
At this point, the translation process will begin. It can take a few minutes, depending on how many languages you've chosen. As the translation complete, you'll be notified in the workspace with the following pop-up.
A Powtoon that has been translated with have the Translated Icon ( ) on the thumbnail. You can hover over it to see which language it was translated into.
Success Confirmation
Your translation is successful when:
- A new copy of your Powtoon appears in your Workspace.
- The translated Powtoon displays the Translated icon.
- The translated content appears in the selected language.
Modifying your AI Translation of an existing Powtoon (Text Only)
To modify the text in your Powtoon, without editing inside of the Studio, you can use the Translation File. Just open the file, edit the column Target language, save the Translation file (.xslx) and import it directly back into the same Powtoon.
If you have added text, or made changes to the Powtoon, you won't be able to import a translation file.
- Open the Translation Excel File.
- Modify the text in the column Target Language.
- In the Toolbox, click on the 3 vertical dots ( x ) of the translated Powtoon. Make sure you are importing the translation file to the correct Powtoon, otherwise you will get an error.
- Mouse Over Translate. In the pop-up menu, click Import Translation File.
- Select the associated translation file and click Import translation.
- The existing Powtoon text will be updated to match the translation file.
Importing a Translation File to Create a New Powtoon (Text Only)
- Click Import on the left side of the page.
- Click Import Translation file.
- Add the Translation File and click Create new Powtoon.

Downloading a Translation File
If you didn't download the translation file, or need a new version, simply a new translation file by following these simple steps.
This can only be done, if the Powtoon has already been translated.
- Select the Powtoon you want to translate, and click on the 3 vertical dots (
).
- Mouse Over Translate. In the pop-up menu, click Download translation file.
- The Translation file will automatically be downloaded, and saved to your computer.
Didn't Work?
If the translation does not start, the import fails, or you receive an error message:
- Confirm that you have sufficient translation credits available.
- Verify that you are importing the translation file into the same translated Powtoon that generated the file.
- Check that no text changes were made to the Powtoon after the translation file was created.
- If the issue persists, contact the Powtoon Support team and include:
- The Powtoon URL
- The language(s) selected
- Any error message received
- A copy of the translation file (if applicable)
