The Extend feature in Powtoon Studio lets you continue a slide's scene into a new slide, carrying your objects forward without interrupting the flow. The maximum slide length is determined by your subscription plan — for example, a Free plan allows a maximum total Powtoon length of 3 minutes, so no single slide can exceed that limit.
Note: You can build an entire Powtoon on one slide or spread it across multiple shorter slides — the Extend feature works in either approach.
Before you begin
Two conditions must be met before you extend a slide:
- You must be working in Create mode in Powtoon Studio. You cannot extend a slide in Edit mode.
- Every object you want to carry into the next slide must have its endpoint positioned exactly at the end of the slide on the timeline. If there is any gap between an object's duration bar and the end of the slide, that object will not extend into the new slide.
- In the Powtoon Studio, make sure that you are working in Create mode.
- In the slide panel, select the slide thumbnail with the scene that you want to extend.
- Note where the objects are positioned on the timeline.
In the example below, the character and the Sun are playing until the end of the slide.
Make sure that the end points of the objects you want to extend are positioned exactly at the end of the slide. If there is any gap between the object's duration (the blue timeline) and the end of the slide, the object will not be extended to the next slide.
- On the slide that you want to extend, hover over the three dots in the bottom right corner to display the slide menu.
- Click Extend.
You can also right-click on the slide thumbnail and then select Extend Slide.
A new slide will be added after the slide you extended. By default, the objects will play on this slide for 1 second. You can extend this duration and make any additional edits to the slide.
Important:
Make sure not to add a transition between the original slide and the one following. A transition will disturb the flow of the scene.
