This article covers how to add a character to a slide in Powtoon Studio. You can browse the character libraries or search by name, choose a pose, and place the character on your slide in a few steps.
Before you start
To add a character to a slide, you must be working in Create mode inside Powtoon Studio. If you are in a different mode, switch to Create before following the steps below.
Adding a character to a slide
In the Powtoon Studio, you need to be working in Create mode in order to add a character to a slide.
- In the slide panel, click the slide thumbnail to which you want to add a character.
- Click Characters on the toolbar.
- Browse the libraries or use the search bar to locate the desired character.
- With your mouse, hover over the desired character and select the appropriate pose.

What happens next
After you add a character to a slide, the character appears on the timeline starting at the position of the playhead. For example, if the playhead is at the six-second mark when you add the character, the character will begin playing at six seconds into that slide.
To adjust when the character appears or how long it plays, drag its block on the timeline to the position you want.
Note: The playhead position at the moment you add the character determines its start time on the timeline. Move the playhead before adding the character if you want it to appear at a specific time.
