The Powtoon Business platform includes functionality that enables you to translate your Powtoon to another language. The translation applies to all the text that is added using text boxes.
The translation process includes the following steps:
- Creating an Excel file that includes all the text in your Powtoon that needs to be translated.
- Sending the Excel file for translation to your translation partner (or translate it yourself).
- Importing the Excel file with the translated text to your Powtoon account to create a Powtoon with the new language.
Creating an Excel file for translation
- Go to the Powtoon Workspace.
- In your Toolbox (My Powtoons), locate the Powtoon that you want to translate.
► If the Powtoon was not saved recently, you will need to click View all to see all your content. - Click the three dots by the Powtoon and then select Translate.
Note : The translate option is not available if the Powtoon has been shared with you. You can duplicate the Powtoon and translate the duplicate.

- Select Generate file
- Generate file (to being the process) : This action will generate a text file, ready for translation. Once the text is translated, you can import the file to create a translated Powtoon.

- Choose the Language you want the file to be translated to.
- Click Generate text file.
Note : If you have already completed the translation, and want to import back into Powtoon, go to the section importing the translated file.
Important:
At this point, do not edit the original Powtoon or share the Powtoon with another team member (who may edit the Powtoon). If any changes are made to the original Powtoon, the translation will not be accurate.
Translating the Excel file
- Open the Excel file.
- Click Enable Editing at the top of the file.
► If you do not enable editing, you will not be able to add text to this file. - Translate the text in the Source language column (C) and write the new text in the Target language column (D).
► In translating the text in the file, use column D and do not make any other changes to the file.
- After you have finished the translation, send the file back to the Powtoon owner.
Importing the translated Excel
Once you receive the Excel file back from the translator, or you have translated the file yourself, you'll need to upload it to your Workspace. Importing this file creates a new Powtoon in the translated language. The original Powtoon is saved in your Workspace and is not affected by the translation.
- Click Import on the left side of the page.
- Click Import Translation file.
- Click Import text file.
- Locate the file from your computer, and click open.

The translated Powtoon is added as a new Powtoon to the My Powtoons section in your Toolbox.
